On 17 October, 1970, Geoff's goal in a 2-2 draw with Spurs made him the club's second highest League goal scorer with (at the time) 165, a position he still holds today with a final total of 180.
Geoff Hurst set the record of 49 career goals in the League Cup with goals scored playing at West Ham and Stoke City. This has since been equalled by Ian Rush at Chester, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
England internationals : 49 caps, 24 goals. This is the eleventh highest number of goals my an England international.
And of course ... Geoff's hatrick in the 1966 World Cup Final, when England beat West Germany 4-2 after extra time, remains a unique achievement. Martin Peters, also a West Ham player at the time, got England's other goal.
