Current Posts 2004-2005

First off, here is this year's list of the players and managers from the 1970-71 Wonderful World of Soccer Stars book that are still holding down jobs in the English Football Leagues according to the Sky Sports Yearbook ...

Next there is a list of players and managers from the 1970-71 season who still have a job in addition to the World of Soccer Stars book.
After which there is the list of players and managers from 1970-71 who were on last year's list, but still need confirmation from other sources. This bunch is particularly large this season as the new Football Yearbook has dropped much of its backroom information, and official sites now require registration..

All updates include any changes of post during the 2004-2005 season ONLY.

Click on underlined player's names or player's 70-71 team to find out more information.

Note: For a second season Sky Sports have taken over the sponsorship of the Football Yearbook, which is now in its 35th year, having been sponsored by Rothmans for the first 33 years. The book is edited by Glenda Rollin and Jack Rollin and published by Headline, London in 2004.

Note:
Lennie Lawrence has been added above as manager of Cardiff City. Lennie would have been 22 at the start of the 70-71 season, but as he had a non-League career I am as yet unable to place on Bob's 70-71 Pages. Lennie stepped down as manager 23 May, 2005.
Other current English League managers who were the right age, but I do not yet have confirmation of their place on the site due to not having a playing career in England are: Craig Brown - Preston North End (sacked 29 August 2004), Claude Le Roy - Cambridge United, Jacques Santini- Spurs (leaves for 'personal reasons' 5 November, 2004), and Arsène Wenger - Arsenal.
Graham Barrow - Bury, and Sammy McIlory - Stockport County were born in 1954, but I do not yet have the proof that they were apprentices in 70-71.
Steve Coppell - Reading was born in 1955, and again I do not have any proof that he was on anyone's books in 70-71.
